I Stalk my Old Friends...

I made a new friend this year and I said to her; "You know, I love how we can connect. But I have one fear, that one day, we'll stop being friends", Today, we don't talk to each other like before, we stalk—ehm— okay! I do the stalking, but I don't know if she stalks me back.

I'm afraid of connecting deeply with someone and at the end, losing this connection. I find it hard believing that there are over 6 billion people on earth and yet, I feel alone sometimes. I don't see friendship as this shallow ship where anyone can jump into just like that. I'm so glad there's a word such as acquaintance. That's where 99.9% of alie—sorry—humans fit in. But there's a 0.01% space left for a friend. Something true, someone valuable, not necessarily perfect but is .... (Sigh). That person called friend.

I wonder what friendship means to other people. To me, I guess it means I can be a monster in your presence, I can be a butterfly too. You should be able to inculcate and encourage positive values in my life. We can talk about anything and many mind blowing things; talk about intimate matters, especially sex. You also correct me and tell me; 'Hey! You're going the wrong way.' Or 'You shouldn't have done that.' Or better still, 'don't worry, you can do it. It's easy.'

In my journey through life, I've made these kind of friends. Awesome creatures, I must confess. But due to some reasons, our life paths separate into narrow and broad paths. We take our paths. We stop talking like before. So sometimes, I stalk them. To see if they're doing okay, to like their pictures, to check what's going on in their lives, to see how they've grown, to be proud of them, and to sometimes say hello, just for old times sake. Because I miss them. But most often, I don't.

Nonetheless, I still always look forward to deep, heartfelt, midnight convos from people I can connect with, and call, friends.
